Over a period of 50 years BilAtlas grew into a leading player in the automobile industry. Its guiding principle was road safety for children under the Atlas brand.
50 years in the automobile industry
What was rapidly to develop into Bil AB Atlas started 50 years ago.
With its consistent strategic approach regarding safety in cars, the company became one of the European market's leading players in the business area 'road safety for children'.
Intensive internal development work in close collaboration with the automobile industry, medical experts, road-safety researchers, authorities, technicians and designers led to a broad and detailed market adapted product programme. The law on moped helmets in Sweden in 1975 opened the door to a new market segment in which the company quickly became the leader.
Atlas bicycle helmets became the standard
Bicycle helmets for everyone, but above all children, became a milestone in company development, and BilAtlas was the one to take the initiative and raise awareness of bicycle helmets as a cheap form of life insurance. Atlas rapidly became the collective product name, and it was protected world wide. The company's own development and production paved the way for intensive development of exports. In recent years most of production has been transferred to China.
BilAtlas was sold in 2004 to MECA AB
The result of a long and successful history led to the company being sold in May 2004. BilAtlas had gradually changed its marketing strategy. An emphasis on the needs of the automobile industry's after market for tools and gadgets coupled with car manufacturers' increasing outsourcing of components and accessories led to new acquisitions. Isco AB was incorporated, and this positive development meant that Meca AB saw us a powerful factor in their growth strategy. Meca AB is now one of the market leaders in Scandinavia, and has great confidence in the future. |

I have retained the Atlas brand.
In conjunction with the sale of BilAtlas I retained the business area Atlas Helmets. I have put all product names, model designations and tools into a new company called SportAtlas. Now there is a 100% emphasis on helmets, and the market is growing.
The new draft law is just one sign of that trend.
My business concept is:
Development and production of approved helmets for children and adults for distribution in customer-adapted volumes under the Atlas brand or customer specific brands.
